GS4 - WiFi and Mobile Date (LTE) constantly downloading since AT&T update (battery drain)

Using an AT&T Galaxy S4 running 4.4.2 (model SGH-I337). Been using it over a year w/o a problem. This week AT&T sent an update (I337UCUFNI1) and since that time my battery dies within 2-3 hours, versus the 36-48 hours I normally get. The phone remains very warm during the short time the battery has life.

I believe the battery is draining because the GS4 is downloading (or trying to download) something. When Wi-Fi is on it shows the upload /download indicator, and if I turn off Wi-Fi the mobile LTE indicator shows the upload / download indicator. The only way to prevent the battery drain is to use Airplane mode.

I've shut off all syncing and cannot find what it may be downloading. I've seen a few other GS4 owners post a similar issue in other forums, but I've not found a solution.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

I wiped the cache partition in the AM each of the last two days, but the issue continues.

Any other suggestions? Is there a way to uninstall AT&T's update - I337UCUFNI1 ?

Thanks again.

Many of us on Verizon are experiencing the same thing. My data arrows are constantly lit, the phone is hot, and the battery drains within a few hours just sitting on a table with the screen off. It's an Android issue because it's still happening even with the phone in safe mode. I've done a full reset (hard reset), cleared the cache, disabled various services, and no luck. The only thing that stops the battery drain for me is disabling master sync, but of course that means I don't get any email unless I manually check.

It may be worth talking to your carrier about this. As Rukbat, one of my fellow Ambassadors, likes to say, if the carrier pushes an update that messes up the phone, it's their responsibility to make it right.

AT&T's update to 4.4.4 (on 11/13/14) resolved the issue! Battery life has returned to normal, or even slightly improved.

Thanks again!
