Almost a year has gone since the phone has been out and even tho the S6 will be coming soon , in the grand scheme of things is the S5 still worth it rite now ?

Depends on your budget. S5 will still be a very good phone for a year from now or so.

Right now? Eh, I don't know. It's still a very good phone but it has some aspects that are starting to show their age. I definitely wouldn't buy it now if I was looking for a new smartphone, not with the release of the S6 just around the corner (same with the One M9). I would really question Samsung's future update plans. The S5 just received Android 5.0 on Verizon but are they going to update it beyond that to 5.0.2 or even 5.1? Or are they just going to keep it at 5.0 and focus on the S6? That would be my biggest concern especially since Android 5.0 is somewhat buggy.

I'd wait for the next flagships and pick between the S6, G4, M9 and G Flex 2.

I bought both of my S5s for $99 bux, you will not get the S6 for anything close to that for about 2 years.

The differences in technology between flagship phones is so small as to not making much difference.

The S5 is a very good solid performer and will continue to be for years yet.

I have a Galaxy S Fascinate (Verizon's name) which has been registered for 4+ years and it is still doing a very good job. Yup, it is super slow compared to the S5 but it is just as fast as the S5 for telco and SMS jobs.... The camera is slower, but the detail in it is just as good as the S5 when viewed on the phones, or when posted on forums in 400x600 format. You cannot tell which phone the shot was taken on, the 'S' or the 'S5'.

Host the pix on a web file host though, and there is a lot of difference between 2m pixels and 16 mPixels. but for forum use, I can't tell any difference at all.

so, the bottom line is, the S5 will do you a very good job for as long as your pocket itch can stand to use it. I see a lot of folks who can't sit still until they empty their wallets on a new toy...
a good friend just spent $33,000 on a new GL1800 Goldwing.
I just spent $7,000 on a "new to me" GL1800 Goldwing.
Sitting side by side, you cannot tell which one is the older one.... wallet itch is what it is.

I think it's too close to the s6 release date to get the s5. I would wait just to see the differences between the two. If the s6 seems super awesome and different in all the great ways, you may want it. If it seems more like a "slight" upgrade, might as well get the s5. Also the s5 will drop in price after the s6 is revealed

The S5 is still a great phone. If you can get it with a good discount then it's worth considering. If you're still paying top dollar for it you may want to hold off and see how much more an S6 would be.

Only if you get for free if you are paying full retail I certainly would wait for the newer models to come out

I agree with everyone else. If you can get it at a discount then it might be worth it, but if not I'd wait to see the new phones and what they offer.
