I understand that it is lock domestically. My question is, is there anyway that it could be UNLOCKED for domestic GSM use? Has this been done before on any type of "world phone" with dual CDMA/GSM capabilities?
My BB Tour worked fine with my ATT sim card (prepaid and also worked the "comicel" network in Colombia)
On this Photon, I show a red triangle in my phone when i insert the ATT Sim Card
But when i go to a specific place on the phone I am able to read the sim card number with the 3 sim cards
1. The sim card that comes with the phone I can read the number of the sim card
2. I can read the sim card number of the prepaid ATT
3. I can read the sim card number of the "comicel" (colombian sim card)
I tried one of the unlock companies that say they can unlock the phone but they wanted a 15 digit meid number (i think).
i entered *#60# or similar number earlier today
and i came up with 2 numbers and neither were the 15 digits required by the company
i just tried it
it gives two numbers for Meid
*#06# (and hit call on your phone)
A000002C5322XX (xx being a letter and a number) Hex
22684354604054483xx (xx being both numbers) Dec
The unlock web site wanted a 15 digit number and the first number is only 14 digits
so i do not know what the scoop is on how to unlock the phone for domestic use
I know my bb tour 9630 worked fine with the ATT card with no unlock code being necessary ( I was using this 2nd phone for backup)
I bought the other Motorola xprs and returned that phone, it would not see the att sim card
and i bought an unlock code (or tried too and they returned my monies, saying they could not provide a code. I will try the colombian sim card next month but i will buy an unlock code if they work
Lol
Have a good day
As i write this i remember the good old days with the Palm Treo
They could have been the King of the Smartphone market but they were not focused
