GT-18190 Samsung S3 Mini Micro SD card suddenly not recognised

I have using a micro SD card in this phone for about a year. Suddenly the other day I noticed lots of my data was not displaying and realised the phone had stopped recognising the card. Under storage it simply is not there at all. Under SD card it says Mount SD Card Insert SD Card.

The card is reads fine in the pc. I tried reformatting in both FAT32 and exfat and the phone still does not pick it up. Any ideas?

I've tries blowing in the slot as I read somewhere, but no difference. I don't have another card at the moment to test that.

Welcome to the forums. Can you check the card for errors? The card may be failing.

The only thing I can think of is to test another card.

I will hopefully have another one in a couple of days, so will update then

Got a new mini sd - not recognised either - so it looks like phone is the problem. Any suggestions how to fix?

The little mini card slot (which is underneath the battery) I've noticed does lift up very slightly from the board at one end. I don't know if it is meant to do that.

It is odd as it just suddenly failed during normal use. I hadn't removed the card first.

SOLVED: I eventually found another thread that said format the card on the pc to NTFS, this is contrary to everything I had read elsewhere. It worked! Formatted to NTFS, the phone recognised the card, whereas with FAT and exFAT the phone just had not seen it at all. The phone reformatted the card again, and now it's working fine. Very pleased as I was on the point of scrapping the phone having assumed that was the problem.
