GPS Status is a great app, providing information and visualizations for GPS and compass readings. It will also let you reset and download aGPS (Assisted-GPS) data which augments the GPS chip's ability to locate the satellites.

Edit: you'll have to go into the settings/menus to find that aGPS option.

OK, I'm looking to do my 1st "dirty" flash of 1.9 from 1.8.

I'm a compulsive wiper when it comes to flashing ROMs even just updates, so this is new territory for me.

So my question is: If I'm doing a dirty flash on the same ROM do I need to still flash Gapps too?

Hello All,

First of all, I would like to thank you "Dmmarck" for all the hard work that you have put into these guides and as well as all the help you have been giving to the people. As someone mentioned a few days back Android Central should be paying you for all these work !

Just wanted to let people now that I just flashed Jakes 1.9 and I had no problems. Just wiped everything (Data, Cache, Dalvik) and the phone is running like butter.

Will keep you guys updated as i start to get deeper into JB

Again dmmarck, without you and nycinek, zero and the others all this would not be possible.

but heres a question.
before I restored with Nova, I had the "stock" look, and I have the 5 icons if swipped to the left screen for wifi-bt-gps-rotate and brightness, but when I went and restored using Nova they are gone, anyway to get them back in some fashion as "short cuts/toggles"?

thats quite an endorsement, and an honor to be bundled with dm and zero.... im still very new to this stuff, but these guys have rapidly converted me into a crack flasher.... as evidenced by me flashing 1.9 without even checking md5 beforehand!!!

wow playing with Google now, its fun! replied to a text message in voice, will make it so much easier now. got to play around and see all the new goodies it has.

when theres a new release its been said that we can "dirty flash" the next lets say JB 2.0 at this point just flash the ROM? or do we need to wipe any thing.

You were helpful to me tonight doing the in jump to JB. Got real scared when I was unable to get to dalvick to clear.

Used the little Mic icon on the open text screen,. also playing with Swype now. Been up for 22 hours now thank goodness no work tomorrow.

The only time I heard about that was reading that it came about before IO, but that can't possibly be correct. I may give it a go this weekend.

I'm headed to bed right now, however, if you have a Windows pc, download and use Wugs Toolkit to take you back to stock.

If Ubuntu or Mac, check both the Mac guide and the Jelly Bean guide as well as the sticky with the factory images.

Setup adb and fastboot then go from there.

Has anyone noticed that we no longer have predictive punctuation when texting in JB? In ICS, when you type a word and hit space, you get punctuation options like a comma, explanation point, question mark, etc. It gone in JB. Am I missing something?

I've been dirty flashing since my last AOKP KANGED rom and JellyBelly 1.9 was the one that said "No Mas"! Had to wipe data Running smoothly now. Nice. (playing with Trinity kernel)

Lol you dirty flashers.... @xanth no don't just reboot recovery and flash.. wipe cache, dalvik cache, and format /system (no you do not lose any data or apps doing this, that only happens when you Wipe Data/Factory reset).

And in general yeah for most of these upgrades you'll be fine with dirty flashing as the changes are pretty small fixes all confined to relatively small system files... But don't expect it to always be perfect. As soon as you run into issues like force closes, apps not responding, and anything else nobody else is reporting, its because you dirty flashed.
