[Guide] How to get the Gingerbread OTA update and stay rooted!

Re: [Guide] How to get the Gingerbread OTA update and stay rooted

I have noticed a new problem though.

The wifi doesn't work right. It loses signal a lot and doesn't seem to want to download.

For example, I was just downloading the netflix update from the market. Started download on wifi. VERY slow transfer.. 10 minutes go by and it's at 2%.. This is both downstairs from my router and then in the same room as my router... I try canceling and restarting a few times - no help. I click wifi off and *poof*, 3G downloads it in a flash.

Is there a chance that the radio software I flashed is somehow not configured correctly or something?

Having the same issue... will try clearing cache and Dalvik cache as suggested...

No sir. :-) I am not incorrect.

It was widely popular to think odex wasn't themable. But it is not true and far from it :-) I have roms that are fully themed and are also odex, as well as handfuls of mods. That link has great info, but it is not 100% correct. Odex is themable. It requires an extra step to theme in dex/smali code, but to theme png or XML It is exactly the same as deodex. Here are some odex themes and roms that are 100% themable. Btw...I don't wish to start anything here. Just want to put the correct info out there :-)

Here is a guide on how to odex :-)

And in these links are both deodex and odex themes, including smali and png/xml edits. Enjoy!

Well I'll be....I just got schooled. Thank you for setting me straight on this, I had no idea. No worries man, I should do a bit more research before I post. Trust me, an argument is the last thing I want to get into. :)

Still having the wi-fi issue. I did NOT flash the radios. Any suggestions? :)

Thanks.

I KNEW it... LOL.

Just flashed them via Amon Ra. Waiting on "Formating Cache" screent.

Those radios don't work with Clockwork, as already noted.

Don't worry about waiting on that screen. Just reboot aand enjoy your update. :)

Spoke too soon. Wi-fi is still fluttering.

Re: [Guide] How to get the Gingerbread OTA update and stay rooted

Just wanted to say thanks for this guide. Finally took some time to update my Evo last night. Didn't take very long at all--probably took longer to download the files than to install them.

Re: [Guide] How to get the Gingerbread OTA update and stay rooted

I should add that seems the wifi issue was a router issue. This guide is gold.
