[Guide] How to reboot into Stock Recovery on HTC One M8

okay... i did exactly what you said... and i also downloaded the zip extract and got the correct recovery from xda which is the one i had all along.. it was correct and did this in the cmd and this is what it did:

C:\Users\Carlington\Desktop\HTC\fast\fastboot cmd>fastboot flash recovery recove
ry.img
sending 'recovery' (14109 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.395s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 4.487s

C:\Users\Carlington\Desktop\HTC\fast\fastboot cmd>

that was the results... the phone did not give me the option to scroll down to reboot bootloader ... that was not one of the options at all. it had reboot , ramdump, reboot fastboot and power down. those were the only option shown after i ran the command...
any other ideas?

and the top of the screen shows: tampered, relocked and security warning...

if you look it didnt flash the recovery , it failed. to get the reboot option you would need to go back to where hboot was highlighted and it is there. what build # and Baseband are you on?

build#: 1.12.502.18 CL318610
baseband#: 1.16.21331931.LA11G_20.31A.4145.02L

Additionally: i was under the impression that it worked because of a video i followed from Youtube from one my regulars... but i believe you're right because i always wondered if that message about it failing was for real but according to the video the guy said that message could be ignored...
thanks

If you can download the OTA on your phone but dont install it , use the file manager and look on the sdcard in the down load folder. copy the OTA to the fastboot folder on your desktop and rename it "firmware.zip" when you get that far we will move on

By the way you can trust me , i do this stuff everyday in my sleep....lol
Oh and are you planning on rooting your phone after this?

so what else can i do before the RUU and again i don't know how to use the RUU, but as you said don;t use it but download it. so I am waiting to hear if you have anything else to try and what does the RUU do?

okay will try this... i removed my SDcard since you told me to and i still have it out now...does the OTA automatically go to the downloads folder on the sdcard? i am going to re-insert the sdcard and check it but normally i have to wait 24 hours before i can get the OTA again on my phone...i mean the option to download it

what file manager do you recommend?

I didn't find the OTA in the downloads folder on the internal storage nor was it on the sdcard after i re-insert it. i was thinking it would be there all these others times that i downloaded it. but no OTA file in downloads folder.
So i can't do what you are suggesting...

it was rooted but i unrooted it and wanted to have it stay unrooted. but i am not sure now if unrooting it was done properly but i know it's unrooted and relocked based on the video i followed from the UNLOCKR...so not sure but what would you suggest? i just really wanted to get the OTA's and keep it unrooted...i loved rooting before like all my other phones were samsung phones and i had all of them rooted... so i switch to HTC and after rooting it ... it didn't seem like it was needed because with previous phones i used custom roms ... always cyanogen for life back then but this htc just wanted to root but no custom rom at all and i have no plans for custom roms.
just would love to get the OTA's and have the phone back to original state.

The OTA could be in the cache folder to check there. If all fails you can backup all you pictures and stuff and use the RUU which might be best. Look on the ext. sdcard and see if there is a zip named 0P6B120.zip if there is rename it or get it off the sdcard

where would i find this file 0P6B120.zip on the SDcard?
and which cache folder am i checking... i am not as knowledgeable as you are :) lol

i searched the Sdcard for 0P6B120.zip but didn't find it and for the cache folder the ones i looked it didnlt have anything but probably not looking at the right one...

only zip i found was: update-superSu-v1.99.zip

ok nevermind about the 0P6B zip. Did you redownload the OTA with the phone and you cant find it ? Let me look again and see if i can find it.
Do you use hangouts it would be be easier and quicker. If so PM me
