[GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary

Fastboot flash or PG05IMG.zip?

Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt

I dl'd the file from clockworkmod.com but it wasn't a zip file... it was a disc image file. (I think i asked this in a different thread). So I guess i'm looking to learn how to change that file into a zip so i can use PG05IMG.zip file. I try to keep things simple... dl file, place on sd card, rename if necessary, and flash. Hopefully it can work like that.;)

Rename the file to recovery_signed.img, and put it and a text file called android-info.txt in a zip. In the text file, put
Code:
modelid: PG0510000
cidnum: VZW__001
mainver: 1.12.605.6
hbootpreupdate:12
Then name the zip PG05IMG

will this unroot tool work on my evo 3d phone it just says daemon started succesfully and then that it usually it goes longer

Well to start with i followed these instruction to the T but after doing all this i went to flash the pg05img_no_hboot_2.11.605.9 to my phone and it started fine but then for some reason it keeps aborting the process and i have redone everything again and again but it's still doing it. Also i should probably let you know that i have the eternity-r248-mecha rom on there with htc sense 3.5. I put this on my phone it's a great rom but it's still got some issues this is why i am trying to get back to the factory loaded software. If some buddy could please help i'm pretty savvy with rooting and un-rooting but i'm stuck for some reason anyone got any suggestions

Do i actually type the word "code" in the text file or just the info in the shaded box?

The hboot download listed under "putting back stock firmware and s-on"

I thought everyone would know which I meant without explaining it. Lol. Forgot to specify which download I was referring to. My bad.

I sold my rooted tbolt. Since whatever update rolled out yesterday the guy is having problems with screen being unresponsive and gmail syncing correctly. I never had those issues, so, first step I thought of is unrooting the phone to accecpt OTA update.

trter10..you are awesome. The issue I have is because I am an idoit and I can even download the zip file. When I do, I can't find the edit when I right mouse click and the md5 file is always white not a zip file. oh well. I am sure everyone else benefits from your wisdom.
