Hey guys I had to go out of town today and needed a net connection and I figured out how to get tethering working with the Samsung Google Nexus S 4G with the 2.3.7 Build GWK74

I thought i would share this with all of you encase you have not figured this out as I have. The free version in the market would not work for me with the new update

1 You need to be rooted for this to work.

2 You will need the wifi_tether_v3_1-beta6.apk Link Here -----> wifi_tether_v3_1-beta6.apk - android-wifi-tether - WiFi Tether for Root Users 3.1-beta6 *** BETA *** - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting <----- Place this in your internal phone storage sd card does not matter where its at as long as you can find it.

3 For this to work you have to remove any other tethering programs you might have installed (Not Including the stock android tethering app)

4 After you have made sure you have no other tether apps installed you need to reboot into clock work and clear out you cache

5 Go to Menu> Settings> Applications Check the Unknown Sources Check Box

6 Using your file manager navigate to the APK you downloaded and install it (I use Adao File Manager)

7 Bask in the glory of your new mobile hot spot in either 3G or 4G speeds you can add encryption and change settings by hitting menu while in the app there is no device profile for the Nexus S 4G so I left that to auto and had no problems I also set it to Epic 4G and it also worked there as well.

Please be sure to show your support to the folks who made this wonderful app maybe even donate I did :) here is there site android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting

Does it broadcast in adhoc or infrastructure?

Re: (Guide) Mobile Hot Spot Using Android WiFi Tether 3G & 4G 2.3

My understanding is that the last stable release (2.07) is ad hoc mode only, but that the v3 beta versions support both. Someone please correct me if that's wrong.

I guess I'm confused. But I have Elixir and I turned my hotspot on through there just fine... Are the problems plaguing everyone with that build?

You mean the built in wifi tether? If so, it'll work but only 3G.

Re: (Guide) Mobile Hot Spot Using Android WiFi Tether 3G & 4G 2.3

I guess so. I used Hotspot Widget on my Optimus and found that I could just toggle through Elixir so I did that instead. I don't have 4g in my area so tethering over 3g is as good as it gets for me... lol

The Stock hotspot does not wroth with the 2.3.7 release they blocked it from working at least on sprint :( this is the work around also i could not get the 2.07 to work well at all would act ok but kept loosing connection and would force close all the time stock other then being rooted and blocking adds
