[GUIDE] Rooting 3.7/Hboot2.02+ w/screen shots (1/27/2011)

No, check my signature.

I'm still stuck on step 13. I just tried again from scratch about 5minutes ago and still no luck.
I'm on win 7 64 bit with AMD x2.
I've rooted a Palm Pre and LG Optimus S with no problems :) but this EVO
is just not being cooperative.:)
When it runs a scan it says "no image or wrong image" then it goes back bootloader without asking to apply update.
Help me please if you can, anyone.

Are you rooted and how did you it ? would you help me out please thanks

Yeah I'm rooted, I didn't accept the OTA so I was still on 2.2 (Froyo) which means I could still root my phone. As for the method I did, well I used the same method that is in the op, also I video from youtube that way I could visually see what was going on along with reading what to do. It was really easy as long as you follow it step for step. Ya, I can maybe attempt to help you, I'm still a noob to this stuff but I did do it all on my own. But first I'll need to ask you a couple questions. First what version of android are you running? From your post I would assume your using 2.3 (gingerbread) which means you cant root just yet, aka devs are still working on a way to do it. Second question is have you done some research? Because one of the most helpful things for me was to just read and watch a ton of stuff that way you know what your getting into.

Try to update the data profile as well.

You don't by chance know the MSL code for that phone do you?
Fred,

I rooted my phone using your walkthrough, but now I'm interested in switching to Gingerbread. Is the process easy? Do you have a walk through to switch to gingerbread? Or is the process complicated?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Gabriel

just look for stock rooted roms that are based off gingerbread

[ROM][STOCK][Rooted] 4.53.651.1 - Odexed & De-Odexed - xda-developers thats the most recent that I have found but i haven't tried it myself since i dont like stock but i gotta do it for my friend :/ So I don't know if it really works just yet.

WORKED PERFECT for me... Thanks tons for the tutorial.

1 Quick Questions:

The COLORED ICON PACK, how do you install that?

Also, after installing this I'm still at 2.2 version with 3.70 build... is that what I'm suppose to be? The screenshots at the SprintLovers link show 2.33/4.XXX build. Can I jump up to that version after rooting or do I have to stay with ROMs for my version?
