[GUIDE] Rooting 3.7/Hboot2.02+ w/screen shots (1/27/2011)

I would like to start the root for my phone however the download for the root files you have linked in the beginning are not unzipping one of the files you mention. I get all the rest just not the, RomManager.apk. file. Any thoughts? Am I just not seeing it?

You're fine without it, I have updated the OP.

other people brought this up before and I thought I was going crazy LOL, I took it out, it was included in a previous version but not in the latest one, it was never part of the actual instructions.

You can just grab Rom Manager from the market when you're done.

Interesting, were you able to verify the md5 checksum of the file? Just want to make sure you're using a good file.

Yes, MD5 sum was a match. I have downloaded 4 times, once from direct download, twice mega upload, and once from the xda site. All the MD5's matched from the original post.

I have tried both htc sync/adb and then uninstalled everything android on my computer and reinstalled android bootloader interface (unrevoked hboot usb driver). Though I don't think that to be the problem since all files push fine, its the phone that doesn't work during the update.

guys having an issue at the last step when i update the renamed zip file after i update and restart the evo restarts back into the htc engineer software, what do i do??

Worked like a charm!
Am I safe now to accept future software updates from Sprint?
Don't want to loose free Wi-fi hotspot.

okay I went to the whole guide and 33 pages twice just to make sure I can Comprende every thing , I think I'm ready to try now just wanted to say Thank s for this guide ,I really think this guide is 10 times better than the other ones out there.

for unknown reason when i try to push the files after C:evoroot my phone gets disconnected from HTCsync , a message appears telling me to disconnect my phone and re-conect after ten seconds , this happen when i try to >
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-MR.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG-MR.zip

I did this a couple of times until it work, I did all the other ones pushing enter after every line and when I got to reboot bootloader ,I type adb push recovery " i get error DEVICE OFFLINE " i try the other two and the same error appears in my C:\evoroot ?? thinking..

How do you mean HTC Sync? Your phone should be in charge only mode as well HTC Sync shouldn't be launched on your desktop.

it was in charge mode but after a few files just got disconnected " i mean my icon has an red X on it .
oh wait the icon is been there all the time , so this icon there should not be there?

I am having a lot of problems with the market and am unable to download some apps (like fring) and update others (like touchdown and foursquare).

I did a factory reset hoping that would solve the problem. It did not. The reset: (1) removed some of the Sprint apps, and wireless tether (and who knows what else); and (2) caused my screen to show "android" in a very futuristic font (which caused me to panic and do a battery pull). I went to the on-line market and down loaded my apps from there - although half way through the market lost most of my apps. I completed down loading using app brain.

Long story short. I have 172 apps, all on the internal memory, with 100 mb of available space. Yet, the market is still unusable. I tried all of the tricks -- clearing the market cache and data; signing out and into google talk; deleting the .android secure folder; removing the sd card; powering wifi on and off. No luck.

I am thinking that either I need to reflash the SL 2.2 rom, or switch to another one.

Any one else having this issue? Any solutions or ideas out there?

Thanks,

Ron

Just boot back in to recovery and keep on keeping on from where you were.

Get tapatalk from the android market or just come here to the forums on the browser on your phone (no matter what version of software you're on if you still need help!)
