Hands free setup question

I've had hands free setup on the droid turbo for a while. The hands free feature would know when I'm driving and notify me when a call came in or if I received a text.

Right now, it seems that it's recognizing a call, but not a text. I got a text message that would have been helpful to have been read back. I had to wait until I was stopped near my destination to find out that the text was indicating a change of plans.

I'm wondering if the required screen lock for Android pay or if the fact that the originator of the text sent it out to a group of people rather than just to me, has anything to do with the text not getting read back.

Yes, it's because it was a group text. It's disappointing that group messages aren't handled the same way as normal texts.

You know, I wonder if you turn off the group text as mms feature in messaging if it will then work? This has other downsides - you won't be able to reply to a group, and any messages you send to a group will be sent as individual messages to everyone rather than a single message that will allow a reply from recipients to the group.

The issue isn't groups texts - it's mms messages vs. regular sms messages.
