hangout not showing number of new messages

when i get a new message, i used to see the '1' next to the app. with the latest version of hangout, i do not see the '1' next to the app to tells me i have one outstanding message.

is this a bug??

Mine either- I just chalked it up to one of my million apps fighting with an obscure setting.

Just a shot-in-the-dark...

Can all of you install apps successfully, or do they get stuck after the download, but prior to actual install?

Badges on icons that don't increment, or reset, is a symptom of a specific issue tied to a number of other bad behaviors, one of which is the install problem.

Check when you get a moment. If you can download/install, then you are lucky. If not, you may have the same issue that lots of Android users are observing.

I'm not having any issues at all. I just figured it was an update to Hangouts that wasn't playing nice somewhere.
