Hangouts BROKEN ...

The latest update of Hangouts , in my opinion , has " broken " it ,
1}Hangouts and SMS are not automatically merged , the big update brought this to Hangouts , now it is gone . Conversation now need to be merged manually !!!
2}Unable to start a group conversation , this to needs to be done manually by opening conversations for all the contacts you want in the conversation , then select all the conversations , then merge them from the menu button.

I am voting with my feet once again and am disabling Hangouts until Android L and/or Hangouts is fix .I hate the idea that I once again am going to be using a third party app on my Nexus 5 .
Sorry Google I expect better ....

Unable to start a group conversation

When you start a new conversation and select the first contact, a grey box pops up right next to their name that says "Anyone else?"....that's how you do a group convo.

But I agree that this was a bit of a step back with the loss of swipe to delete/archive

The Button " Anyone Else " , when it appears is for a split second and then it is gone ...

Well the strange thing is for the first couple of days after the update I only had a Hangouts SMS merge problem and then the conversation merge problem appeared ...
Anyway , I received a notification that Google knows about the bug etc ...
