Hi, my wife is on Project Fi, and got a notification that they are transitioning hangouts features to Messages, and she needs to switch before January. It essentially gave her two options (https://support.google.com/fi/answer/6188337?hl=en): one allows her to keep her chat features and lose other things, while the other lacks chat features but gains other features. The more I read about this, the more confusing it is. I've got a bunch of question that hopefully people can answer.
1) She has a group text on hangouts (not MMS, but hangouts chat) with friends. I'm assuming this isn't going to be supported in Hangouts anymore given that they're trying to kill the app, but maybe that's only for non-Fi people. How can she keep this conversion thread? Should people move to Google Chat?
2) I'm a google voice user, and use hangouts to SMS over google voice. Is that going away soon?
3) If she moves to Messages, is her chat history that's currently in gmail going to go away, or just cease to update?
