If you have a Google voice account and have not ported your carrier mobile number to Google hangouts then when you check the box to integrate Google voice SMS into hangouts you can no longer send a new SMS to someone with your carrier phone number. It only is a issue with people you have never sent a text to from your carrier number, if you already have a text conversation going with you carrier phone number it will let you continue it.

- Activate Google Voice SMS messages in Google hangouts
- Try to send a SMS text to a contact you have never sent a text to before or a random number, it will not give you the option to select our carrier phone number
