Hard vs Gel Case

Gel or hard case... what do you prefer and why?

I'm gonna buy my Xoom at Costco (only because of the exchange policy. I have about $400 in Amazon gift cards that I was going to use to buy it, but the exchange policy is a pretty big deal...) and I know it comes with a free gel case. But I normally don't like gel cases for phones because of the weird grip it has in my pocket. But since this won't get put in any pockets, I figured maybe it'll be cool cause it'll be smaller.

Btw, for hard cases, I'm looking at Skinomi.

I purchased the case from verizon. Now I don't use. I dislike cases on any of my gadget it takes away from the design

Me too but I plan to either return in June, or ebay or nextworth it at sometime soon after so I can upgrade, and I don't think cosmetic damage will be conducive to this...

I could always just SquareTrade it, not use a case, and wait till I accidentally kill it somehow...

I'm using a gel case and I'm enjoying it. It feels good in hand and provides a better grip. Wont slide around or out of your hands. May also provide some impact protection, but I'm not trying to test that out.

I plan to use a sleeve to carry it around so its protected, and use it bare and clean to show if its design.
