Has anyone done this yet? "How to sync iTunes with Android"

You use iTunes on Windows or Mac and then transfer it to NAS. How do you do that? If i extract my iTunes playlist and load it up on Ubuntu in Banshee, nothing is imported.

Using Windows XP with the NAS mapped to network drive letter Z:. Then on the PC running iTunes, go to "Edit, Preferences" in iTunes. Select the Advanced tab, under "iTunes Media folder location", click "Change" and then browse/select the directory on the Z: drive you want to use for the iTunes Media location. I created a directory called "iTunes" so my path looks like: Z:\iTunes\iTunes Media. Be sure to check the following options as well: "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library".

There is one catch to this setup. When you go to launch iTunes, if it can't find the mapped network drive location (ex. no network access, drive is offline or no longer mapped), iTunes will default to using the local C: drive. You'll have to re-establish the mapped network drive connection and tell iTunes to use it again (as listed above).

iSyncr for the win!

It just works and it syncs your playlists, playcounts, last played, and ratings. It works with ANY music player on the phone and with iTunes on your PC, unlike DoubleTwist.

There really is no other option as complete and feature filled as iSyncr and the WiFi add-on only costs $1.

Ok basically you put your iTunes folder on NAS drive and copy music folder to your phone. This will not sync playlist. Does it?

No, it will not sync playlists. It is set up this way primarily for backup/recovery purposes as the NAS has mirrored hard drives. The secondary reason was easy access for anyone in the house to the media obtained via iTunes. As such, I just a copy and paste what I want to the phone and use the stock media player as needed. I like the setup as it doesn't require any further software or do any type of syncing which can use up battery life. :)

That is true but playlist is essential to me that is why i use isyncr on windows or Banshee on Linux for playlist management. Their are some custom java scripts that you can use to to extract your iTunes playlist for universal usage. Thanks though.
