I could not be more excited all the hype and waiting for Kit Kat to arrive got the update in Massachusetts today and after using it for 2 hours other than the battery icon being white instead of Android green what changed? Everything including speed, menus and so on seem the same to me. I don't get what all the post's with people so anxious to get this update is all about, if you have not got it yet I would not lose any sleep waiting.

I've also noticed my SD card is completely useless for downloading files, I can access it, copy, paste, delete, whatever, but I can't download anything to it. Which leads to my final bug...
Lastly, a few of my apps (mainly 3rd party) seem to have trouble accessing both internal and SD storage. Apps can sometimes view the files but can't modify them. "My Files" and "Gallery" (non-third party apps) are working normally.

Again, nothing hugely problematic, just some bugs to take note of before you think about updating.
I have no doubt we will see a bug fix update once the S5 is out.

It's not really a bug. This is a new design by Android when it comes to KitKat and 3rd party storage access. Right now the only way around it is to modify a system file to bring access back. There's a long thread on XDA about it.

Same here....on TMo in MA....no update yet. Just updated hubby's S3 to 4.3 and pics keep downloading to his notification tray. Delete them and they return. He won't let me check it out lol. Oh well. So far on my S4 updates have been okay. I hope 4.4 is too when it gets here.

Have any of you wiped your phone and reinstalled Kit Kat as a fresh install?
Typically in older upgrades, that fixes some of the bugs with the new versions.
On VZW. Nothing yet.

Got mine the other day, and no issues as of yet. As for new features there aren't many, but here are the ones I've found so far.

1. When on your home screen* or in Google Now, just say “Ok Google” to launch voice search, send a text, get directions or even play a song.
2.Emoji, the colorful Japanese characters, now available on Google Keyboard.
3. While listening to music on your device, or while projecting movies to Chromecast, you’ll see a full-screen album and movie art when your device is locked. You can play, pause, or seek to a specific moment.
4. And the notification icons are now all white

I have an S3 (work) and an S4 (personal) To clear out the download issue, pull down the shade and hold one of the downloads. When the App Info box pops up, click on it. It takes you to the download manager, clear the cache. Done

I have a notification that the update is ready for me on my S4 (US Cellular) but I don't have enough space on my phone yet to download it. I have an SD card, but I have one of the phones with the bad card slot and need to send it to Texas to get it fixed. Pain. I think I will make room for the update later tonight and install it. How do I get to the egg?

I got the update last night, and like someone else in here mentioned, several of my apps are missing. I don't remember every app I used to have, but I'm having to go back and re-download the ones I notice.

I have seen people getting the update on sprint and AT&T, but haven't heard anything about Verizon. Anyone hear any news about when Verizon will release the update?

I did the update. I noticed that some of my apps were missing from my desktops along with some widgets. I have put some of them back, but, as others have stated, I don't remember what I had for shortcuts on my desktops. I will remember later, as I need the apps and will add them then.

No major noticable changes have been observed yet.

Updated mine a while ago. The update is just amazing, my phone's never been so fast. Elegant looking on the notif icons and the keyboard slightly changed, the full album art shown on lock screen, also good improvement. Nice job samsung. We're just expecting the best part, the new touch UI ☺

This is the first I've heard about this? I wonder what's up with Sprint. I guess it's good I found this forum. I anybody else if feel like a mushroom?
I'm going to do some of the things posted here. See what happens. Usually Sprint majorly forces these things. No notice.
