Has Sprint quit rolling out 4G cities?

I live in Royal Oak, work in Allen Park, and my girlfriend is on the East Side on the Grosse Pointe/Detroit border. At home and her place, I seem to do OK and get OK run time (about 12 hours before looking for a charger) but at work, I'm lucky to get 5 hours, get miserable data speeds (frequently 1x), and the phone gets hot to the touch as it's straining to get a signal.

A few weeks back, I switched over to CM7 and loved it, but I've had problems with Bluetooth dropping with my Sync system and suddenly I started hitting data problems all over causing Amazon Cloud Player, etc. to time out and pages to take forever to load. Apprently you can't update the PRL on AOSP ROMs, but as I researched the issue, I learned that Sprint had lost a TON of their data roaming and changed their PRL to reflect this change and that there were known issues in Metro Detroit.

I dunno, but I've been paying $10 extra for 4G that will likely never arrive here and 3G which is spotty at best. Also, when running Speed Test, I often get faster UPLOAD speeds than download. WTFF is that about? I loathe the idea of having to pay Verizon's rates, but what good is a smartphone without coverage and data connectivity?

very interesting because I have been seeing the 3G tank like crazy over the last many months. Where did you hear about the PRL change due to losing the data roaming?
I agree with paying the extra money now to get the better data. I can speed test my evos at 100-300k next to a VZ device at 1.5-2.5mb on 3g. I switch to 4G where applicable and I am just touching VZ 3G speeds.
I have been fighting with sprint over the 3G forever now and just started *****ing enough to get credits on my acct.
They just credited me $120 the other day

Wonder where I can find old PRL's to do some testing with . . . . .

Here in Rhode Island we have tons of 4g coverage but it sucks because my house according to sprint and clear falls within strong 4g coverage and thats complete BS. I could be standing on my roof and wouldn't get 4g but what is funny my parents live one block over from me and they get 1 - 2 bars of 4g.

Getting 4G here in Wilmington, NC. In testing at the moment hopefully will be fully implemented real soon.

Here in CT theres only coverage in new heaven and hartford. No where near close enough for me, and i'm not sure whom sprint has in charge of throwing darts at a map but they're obviously not good enough to land a dart anywhere near THE TWO LARGEST CASINOS (as of 1/2/05) in the U.S. One of which is in my backyard if not everyones back yard in south eastern ct. Still i'm happy with my evo

Moving this to the sprint section, after all it really has nothing to do with the evo per se :p

Sprint says I get 4G yet I get no more than a bar before it dies. I wish they'd stop bsing around and release 4G rather than act incompetent about it.

Same boat as you other Mi. Guys. But I live in port Huron. Though I talked to sprint & there has been talk about 4g coming here, or St. Clair county. Hopefully it will and won't be crippled like G.R is. My benefit is I drive semi OTR So I sometimes get lucky & get by 4g zones. Of course KS city, KS has great 4g. There're buyist. Lol

Sent from my soon to be EVO3D using TapaTalk - Currently running - Gingerbread roms

According to the Clear 4G Coverage Map they now have 4G service in Port Huron. Sprint is the majority owner of Clear, and your Sprint 4G service works on their entire network. Go to a service area and turn on your 4G antenna on your device and start surfing!!!

We just got service here where I live in New Mexico a few weeks ago. We have been waiting a long time, as I am sure you have too.

You can also get the GOT CLEAR? Android App and check out coverage maps on the fly. Clear's coverage maps are far more reliable than Sprints (not to mention up to date).

I'm in Ogden in Wilmington.... Where did you hear we were getting 4g? Sprint tells me there are no scheduled plans for us to get it in the foreseeable future EVERY TIME I call

Sprint has 4G service in Wilmington NC. It's only currently available on one tower on the north side. From Downtown area out toward the airport. It's available on Market Street, Martin Luther King Pkwy, N. 23rd Street, Wooster Street, Dawson Street, 16th & 17th Streets, parts of Kerr Avenue, parts of College Road.

You can go to the Clear.com website and click on the coverage map. Zoom in on Wilmington. You can then see where they have coverage in green. You can also download the GOT CLEAR Android App from the marketplace, so you can view the coverage maps on the fly.

Sprint is not yet showing the coverage on their maps. But go into a green area, turn on your 4G antenna, and start enjoying broadband speeds in Wilmington, North Carolina!
