I could see myself using this phone for a very long time. The problem is I get bored with phones and like getting newer ones. Other then that, this is the best phone I have ever owned and could easily use it for years to come.

Yeah, if they would quit dropping new phones, I could keep my X for years to come. Seeing that duel processor in the Bionic will be hard to resist.

I am with you Cyber Warrior. I love the X. It is, unquestionably, the best phone I have ever owned. A phone isn't a toy. I use it for the things it is designed to do, and it does all of those things superbly. Unless they create a phone that does things I currently am not using a phone for and might want to at some future date, I can see no reason to "upgrade."

The problem with the X (I have one so I know all too well) is not the hardware or the physical build, both of which are superb. The problem is Motorola's poor Android build. The blur thing is minor, but things like the 2.3.340 update knocking out push email and Moto doing nothing to fix it are show stoppers.

Knocking out push email? I get my email as soon as it arrives, using my Gmail account to fetch it. Never had any problems with that. Are you sure you have sync enabled and the Data Manager > Data Delivery settings checked to have data delivery, data roaming and background data enabled? Also go into Accounts, Gmail and check sync for email, contacts and calendar.

I did all the steps to fix it, both suggested here and at other sites. Push for Corporate Sync is non-functional (which to me is way more important than GMail). And I am far from alone in having this issue - basically anyone using Exchange email (the vast majority of users accessing work email) are totally hosed.

It worked at purchase, and Moto broke it in the 340 update. A fix was promised but has never happened. Their recommending people to go to Touchdown is not a fix.

I use Touchdown exclusively. The Android exchange client is poor to begin with .. Touchdown features are superior in every way ... reliability is a non-issue. Works even better on the DX than on my OG Droid ...

I rarely read what they say, all of those are all user opinion and it seems to favor Apple products, or it seems that way when I read their reviews. It's like they compare everything to an iPhone.
Yeah you are definitely right. Most of the bloggers on giz are way slanted towards apple in the first place.

I've seen more people carrying them around work this week than I have in the past... Maybe it's because I have one now so I'm more aware... But everyone that I've talked to that wants to know what phone to get... I just give them mine to try out to see if they like it...

Yup. They favor a lot of products that are not big into marketing. For example, I remember reading something on a jawbone product and I thought, not bad. Then I remember readying something about blueant product and it was a horrible review. I said screw it, used BlueAnt products before so I brought another one, it was one of the best one's I have used and it was louder then any other bluetooth I have tried and almost half the price. Call Quality was great and even driving with music on, other called heard me over the music.

My take on the rapid publicity fade for the X is that Marketing folks thought the large size was a turn-off for many potential customers. Thus, the smaller, "weaker" versions for the less tech-oriented.
I remember the gizmodo review of it was really down on the size and dimensions of it. It almost scared me off. The review, in retrospect, was horribly done. It painted the x as this testosterone-laden, ridiculous slab of technology that was way too over the top and ' manly' to be useful...it was actually kind of a bizarre thing, throwing gender politics into a phone review. My fiancee and I both got one anyway, and we love them. I stopped following giz and switched to engadget. Take that!

This has nothing to do with nothing, but I stopped following gizmodo's reviews after i saw how they reacted to not receiving a test phone for the blackberry storm 2 or something like that.

But more along the topic, the x isn't forgotten, but like many have said in the topic before me....this is how technology works. It doesn't take but a few months for the next best thing to drop and for people to forget about the"old thing. "

For me personally the only thing the x is missing a front facing camera, which I would really enjoy. Blur isn't really an issue for me because I'm using adw launcher and I'm rooted with Rom.

I use Touchdown too, but Touchdown can only simultaneously handle 1 account and I have 2.
