Has your data usage changed since switch to LTE?

I switched from Droid X to Thunderbolt and live in a 4g coverage area. Thanks in part to HBO Go and the unlimited tether promo, I've gone from an average of 2GB/mo to over 6GB/mo. This is partially due to some 4g "testing" and having a new phone, but I'm wondering if any launch day veterans have seen similar bumps in usage. I'm also curious if this might affect Verizon's mobile hotspot pricing structure.

Also is there anyway to find out how much data is being used by hotspot and how much is just the phone data use. Haven't been able to find it on the Verizon site.

Apologize if this is a repeat post, I did do a search first, but couldn't find anything in the Thunderbolt Forum.

I think I've gone up simply because I can do more with the phone. I went from a BlackBerry Storm to the Thunderbolt. The Storm didn't have wifi and I used probably about 1.5 - 2GB a month and last month I went over 5GB and so far after 7 days into my billing cycle I'm already over 1GB.

Now I don't use the mobile hotspot feature and I keep it on wifi anytime I'm at home. If I didn't do that I'd probably be over 7GB a month. But again I think it's because the phone just handles everything so easily. I have 3 radio apps that I use on the Thunderbolt. On the Storm I would be lucky if that many would even fit let alone run.

Mine has gone up alot. I averaged about 5 gb a month on my droid x with the highest being just under 9. I had this phone for 21 days and used about 18 gb. I use the hotspot for my ipad to watch netflix or hbo go for about an hour a day and watch tv on my phone about an hour a a day 6 days a week.

i didn't have data before, so can't compare, but i'm sure if i had, data would not be that much, since skype uses most of my data. i use about 20-30gb/mo now, and that's mostly phone usage, not much mbbc/mhs

Yes. Data usage on the 3G Blackberry Storm was so bad, that I hardly used it. 4G data usage on the TB is much better, so much so that I use it on almost a daily basis. How much? I never checked to see because I have an unlimited data plan.

I went over 6 gig last month

Used to average 2-3 gig on 3G

I can only imagine when I get Netflix what is will be.

Went from using 2 gigs on a nexus one on att to 4 gigs on verizon. I don't really have a reason to turn off 4g since it's faster than my home connection :)

Slight bump this month testing out Netflix over 4G but no real difference in usage since I've gotten my thunderbolt. Still 3-5 gigs a month.

I was using my Fascinate as primary phone before and occasional tethering on 3G: approximately 6Gb/month. After having my TB for a full cycle, I used 32Gb. Because skype is a lot better on 4G and Netflix is too.

No, but that's because I'm on Wi-Fi more often than not. I'm sure my data consumption would go up significantly if I used it.

First month on my ThunderBolt, I used 6.7 gigs but I was definitely playing with it a lot. The second month, I used a little over 5 gigs. I was playing with it less the second month, but started trying custom ROMs, which I was downloading directly to my TB.

My previous phone was a Storm 2, where I would typically use between 600 megs and 1 gig. I still have a BB Tour, which I use almost exclusively for email and average between 30 and 50 megs a month.

Yes, I'm taking advantage of download/streaming intensive sites because I can. What used to be "tolerable to useless" on 3G is now an enjoyable experience on LTE. There are still some minor glitches with LTE but overall there is no question that this is the future of high-speed portable communication. Verizon has many flaws and can't wait to pick your pocket at every turn but they really do have the bees-knees when it comes to speed plus reliability at this point.
