Has your M8 updated to 5.1.1?

Its already august and supposedly we should be getting the 5.1.1 update but unfortunately I haven't got it yet (Southeast Asia). How about you guys?

I heard that HTC was going to bypass the 5.1.1 update and go direct to M.

Oh god, I heard of that before. Hope it's just a rumor. Need the 5.1.1 update, since M is gonna take much much longer

Yeah, it sucks, but I'm not going to start hating on HTC about this. The problems with 5.0.2 are Google's fault. HTC has finite resources to devote to updates. Just part of the smartphone experience IMHO. At least they committed to an update to M.

That right there is the whole issue with android and manufacturer bloat. Yes there were issues with 5 to start with but they've been resolved with future updates and 5.1.1 now runs well on the nexus 5.

HTC gave us the buggy 5.0.1 then haven't bothered to update it any further leaving us with problems such as much worse battery life vs KitKat.

My previous phone was a nexus 5 and I won't stray away from the nexus or maybe Motorola again in the future.

Apple releases bugs with major OS updates too but then they quickly get rid of them and everyone gets the update. If manufactures didn't add all their own customisations to android and have so many phone models they could also update much quicker reducing the iPhones best advantage

HTC have been recently rolling out the 5.1.1 update to the M9, so assuming they're just getting that done and it will be later this month.

I wouldn't trust anything htc say anymore they are going bankrupt and are not the company to buy from. They promised an update officially on their twitter account a few months back that the htc one m8 would be getting android 5.1 and sense 7 in August . Android 5.1 is absolutely needed due to the bugs that currently plague it.

Apparently they have made a 180 degree turnaround and now are skipping this update and will launch the android m on the m8. This means they have ultimately failed to honour their own promises which had months to work on. I'm not sure if it a resources issue but it is extremely worrying that they can't update their own flagship phones

What's to say they won't stick to their promises on android m also?! I actually think they won't release this on the m8...

It's a shame android didn't follow the windows model. There are so many different manufactures running windows yet everyone can get the windows 10 update and it comes direct from Microsoft. With android the manufacturer involvement is a total pain. I may have missed it but I don't think HTC has said anything about the monthly security updates that Google and Samsung are introducing nor have they mentioned how they are going to ptch stagefright. I guess they don't have the resources to support their phones. Well its put me off!

Its really sad hearing that HTC is going Brankrupt. I hope Some other company would take them under their wing just like lenovo did with Motorola. I guess they need someone like Asus to support them. Just Hoping here that HTC keeps their promise on the updates and that stagefright security patch which i haven't heard them talking about it, yet. Prove me wrong HTC.

I contacted HTC UK on twitter and they assured me the new android update and sense 7 is still coming. This may just be for the UK not sure. Hope they are not lying to me.

I'm pretty sure from what information I have seen that they won't updates the m8 with Android 5.1 but I guess we should wait until the end of August before confirming it.

Same thing, just the one and haven't noticed anything else. As far as HTC and updates I find the entire Android system broken, they create an update and then push it to the carriers to mess with it more. Does Apple allow this to their OS?
