Has your M8 updated to 5.1.1?

contacted them again through twitter today, last week they said it was still coming to the UK in August. Lets see what they say this time...

Anyone have any updates on this? HTC are not being very helpful on this matter and not confirming or denying that we will get android 5.1 or 5.1.1.

I have a sim free UK htc one m8 and I did receive a small update to address the stage fright security flaw a few days ago. It was about 50mb but this didn't add any new features or functionality to the software in any way. Still stuck in the early version of lollipop with all its problems...

Yeah I'm sick and fed up of these big corporations lying to us. First Google said that Lollipop will bring better battery life. Lollipop gets released and that drains battery quicker.
Then HTC says that they will have 5.1 released in August just gone, another lie. 5.1 should sort out battery issues and other bugs. So we're left with a buggy m8 while every other company is upgrading their phones to 5.1 and above. So we're left with an amazing phone with buggy software.
Thank you google
Thank you HTC.
I can't stop the hate. I'm turning to the darkside

i too was waiting for the update, but honestly, i didn't have any problems with 5.02 ,cheers

Instead of doing a 3rd factory reset I flashed the RUU for my device and the occasional lag is gone. Battery life continues to disappoint, though :( How I miss kitkat s battery life...

Man you need to give up on HTC. Their 90 day update policy is a lie. They are not even close. They left me with a totally useless phone with 5.0.2. They keep putting updates off for the next version. Meanwhile they destroyed my phone. After all this time they cant credibly blame google for the problems. I switched my whole family to Motorola phones and its the best move I ever made regarding cell phones. Not only is the moto x 2014 and moto x pure editions the best phones I have ever purchased but they receive fast updates. If a new update has a problem it doesn't take long to get the newer update fix. HTC has lost their way. Get out now while you can. 6.0 was just released today so if HTC can keep their word, which they never do, you are looking at early January for your 6.0 update. Being 6.0 is new I am thinking it will have a bug or two and then you will be stuck with that forever. They need to upgrade to the last in line for the lollipop but they are by passing 5.1.1. No common sense at all. Not to mention their sense is a horrible skin.... get out while you can

Don't know about an M10 but there is a new event later this month. As far as the M8 is concerned I really can't fault it. I am not a power user so battery life is spot on for me at least 36 hours before needing to recharge. No problems with lag at all running 5.0.2 and I am quite happy to wait for 6.0 MM which will be with us at the end of the year. Regarding the phone in general... Whilst the latest and greatest phones from Samsung, LG, Sony and even the new Nexus p all look great for me they are too big and I haven't seen a smaller form factor phone that either makes me go wow I need that phone now or is better than the M8 (including the M9) I can honestly say that the M8 for me is the best phone I have had, the camera is good despite what people say about it and the dot view case is genius. Maybe if the new Nexus X had a micro sd slot and a dot view type case I might have considered it.

I just got the brand new M8 ... should I just leave it on 4.4.2 KitKat and not update to Lolipop 5.0? Instead to wait for 6.0 M?

Useless phone??!! Man what are you guys doing to your phones?? I have been running unfettered on 5.0.2 and Sense 6 since they were released. I have no problems, it runs smooth and fast, and I can sometimes get 2-1/2 full days on a single charge. I don't play alot of games but I am on the phone a fair amount during the day, alot on the weekends, emails coming in constantly, heavy texting, and my granddaughter sometimes watches Netflix on it. My battery has never been under 20% at the end of the day. I know HTC stated that they would have a 90 day max window for upgrades but if your phone is performing as advertised what the hell is the problem? That's why I ask what you are doing with your phone......to find out what the differences are between your expectations and mine. If you want to get another phone then by all means go get one but, based on some of the posts I see here, there is no way any phone will satisfy the whims of some of you.

I call bull****.

HTC has kinda left me dissapointed with the long awaited update to 5.1.1 which could've potentially fixed my battery life issue... Plus, the upcoming HTC A9 looks like a desperate move by HTC since i regarded them as those who really knew how to design phones starting from the m7 to the m8, from there onwards everything went kinda downhill with the M9.Performance wise, I wouldnt know, but I'm guessing its snappy as Sense UI isn't filled with bloat. Guess I'll just have to wait again and see if the Android 6.0 update will solve my issues with the new implementation of doze from google...not letting my hopes high tho cause i remembered project VOLTA was supposed to increase our battery life and it didnt really did it for me at the very least....If it does worsen then I'd move on to A Nexus device
