Has your "Ok Google" improved?

Maybe it's just me. But every since the Pixels Launch or rather my phone did the latest Security update my "ok Google" seems to never fail to activate when I say the phrase. Even when I'm about 10 feet away.

My phrase is actually "Hey Lydia" ( yes I named my phone>.>) But even when my phone is locked and I say it. It still hears and activates. Anyone else noticed this?

If it's not just my phone finally getting a hearing aid then I approve of this!

My "OK Google" never works. Then again, I'm running a new version of a custom rom. I tried stock and didn't like it. I'm sure my ok google will be ok with the next release of my custom rom. I'm not a power user, so I really don't care. Text and talk works, so.....

Ok, I just read this and thought, how did you change your phrase from Ok Google to something different, maybe a custom rom or something. Then I thought, wait a minute, you can train the voice model. It says to say Ok Google, but I just changed mine to Ok Nexus.

How long has this been an option? I fell pretty green if it has been out a while and I just figured it out.

Sorry I would of replied to this sooner! Nope, no custom Roms or root here. When it asks you to record I was just a rebel and said "Hey Lydia" instead of "ok Google" as far as how long you've been able to do it?

I am not sure

Ok, I have a Nexus 6 running Nougat. Just changed my phrase to "Kirk to Enterprise" and its working fine.

Dag nammit, I'm going to have to give it another go.

Also assuming this works, then there will be no issues using Home (when it's released here) as it will be different phrases?

Just tried this on my N5 but it didn't work. Guess it's only possible on Nougat?

Hate to disagree but I'm on marshmallow still. And it works not rooted or anything special. Unless you count having the Nova prime launcher. But yeah I hated saying " ok Google " too lol

Disagreement noted! So it doesn't look to be just a Nougat thing. Interesting. I had Nova Prime installed, but didn't change the phrase until after I changed back to stock launcher.
