Hate the New update 7.0 on the S7 Edge

My wife has a S7 edge on 7 and im stuck on 6.0.1 my S5 is also on 6.0.1 now Googles own phone is on 7.1 we need updates to firmware but my wifes S7 edge has all the same settings just in different places which is the lancher but to test it i had to remove my launcher which is Nova to stock
Now i had a Note and that was differant before it went back and yes there is differances between them but in no way is it like a iphone
As for rolling back yes you can using odin and the right firmware but i want 7 as i want the most uptodate firmware

Mmmm, both 6 and 7 have their good and bad points. Certainly N seems a bit more fiddly at times, but I don't mind wandering around in settings to familiarise myself with it.
It's just different from M. My S7 is now on LTE, I can adjust screen res, and a few other improvements. I hate the white themes, but that can be fixed easy nuff ...

Well the galaxy s7 edge look and use of everything is totally changed its not a matter of using another app. These are not tweaks they are total changes.

More steps to get things done. I use my phone for business this is one of the reason I switched from iPhone. Galaxy was more user friendly for business. Now way more keystrokes to do simple tasks. example I have to switch screens to see what emails I have read with an extra step, I don't have time to flip screens. You are now not able to customize the phone now this OS it is very generic. Everything is white, white, white no color coding anymore every overlay is opaque. Not user friendly at all.

The changes are not app related they were removed. Many, many things that made the galaxy s7 edge sooooo different from the iPhone now are the same in look and the way you use it. There are so many changes its like I switched back to iPhone

Just download a dark theme from the theme store.

So, on Nougat, can one still use the Nova launcher? Is there a way to go back to semi-transparent overlays?

I see a lot of Verizon people eager to move up but I also see a lot of complaints about degraded battery life and such.

One of my concerns is being able to tether my computer to my phone on rare occasions without having to pay a stupid fee.

Yep sucks. Text messaging now requires extra taps have to select the contact then select compose. My audio through AUXILIARY port is now only playing through one speaker in my car. The volume level was to low to begin with. iPhone sound is so much louder. I'll be switching to iPhone in September.

I agree that the update is totally different and it totally sucks. I paid a lot of money for my Edge and I really liked it till now. Who the heck does Samsung think they are by making an update that drastically changes the look and feel of my phone!!!! You want to update the software, fine but don't change the total look and feel of my phone without my consent. Then change it to something so absolutely horrid!!! I want the previous version back, it changed everything!!!!

I was actually surprised after mine updated because I didn't initially see anything different. Then I noticed the background on the icons (which can be turned off) and knew the upgrade had worked. Other than the rather bland background for the pulldown area, I see no difference and my phone works exactly the same as it did before.

Apple and Microsoft have done similar things in the past... It's a software thing.

I haven't received the update yet, and am glad.

I know it will show eventually, and will have to decide whether to bite the bullet or ignore it for the time being.

People MOVE ON. That's IT. That's software development. Technology is always evolving. Adapt or go back to basic phones. Sorry but this is not the 1st time this happenes and it will not be the last.

Software contantly changes and evolves. If it doesn't it dies. It's that simple.

I'm on Marshmallow and it's not dead. It's fine. I don't want the whites of Nougat. Fine to stay on MM IMHO.

My phone auto updated and I hate it is now exactly like an iPhone if I wanted an iPhone I would have bought an iPhone. Is there anyway to take my s7 edge back to the way it was before this latest update? This update is a step backwards for android.

Tethering is a curse word on this forum just a heads up

Not so much tethering, but tethering and not paying for it.

From what I've read, the old vulnerability that some folks were still able to exploit has been closed with Nougat.

Apparently, I'm allowed to tether under my current plan without incurring an additional fee, so I guess it's not a problem anymore...

Whether that means I'll still be able to use my preferred app with Nougat is still a question, though.

I one hundred percent agree! I never ever write in these things but I'm so behind annoyed with this update I had to. What the hell is this crap if I wanted an iPhone i would've gotten one. The app icons are absolutely ridiculous, the pull down notification toggle thing is the worst thing ever. This is just really really annoying is there any way to reverse ???
