So I was just told I can't have the watch I have been waiting months for. I just tried to buy one putright but hey said they wouldn't sell it to me with out activating it. I don't need the data on it so I don't want the extra line. Ijust want to use it with bluetooth like my current watch.
I then decide to go ahead and buy it, add the line and then cancel it. But when they look up my account they say I can't have any add on devices on my old school unlimited plan. They want me to ditch my unlimited plan. Thanks, but no thanks.
Now I'm waiting in line at AT&T to see if they will let my buy one outright.

I got mine from AT&T and they let me buy it outright. I had to endure the hard sell for switching to a Mobile Share Plan but they sold it to me without any issues.

Just got mine from AT&T also. When the guy asked for my number I just told him or was going to be a gift for my dad. He said cool, I paid and left.

That's the difference between CDMA carrier like Verizon and GSM carrier like AT&T. When you sign up with Verizon, you basically give them total control of your mobile devices as well as your first born.

Wow, that's great that you didn't need to buy into their data plan and got the watch. Quite clever of you! Interesting, I was told by a AT&T manager that AT&T won't sell the watch without a data plan or an account with them.

That's always YMMV. The sales person get very little commission by selling you a watch or any phone in store. It's the plan and contracts that worth get them paid. So they make up excuses for it.

just got mine at verizon...i have unlimited grandfathered....they had a hard time figuring out how to ring it up in computer, me not wanting to activate it and all, but finally figured it out....

Were you able to get it at the $299 price match of ATT... or did you pay above retail for the Verizon privledge?

I found out the same thing. Good job VZW, nice way of alienating by device now. Just dumb. I will got to AT&T in the morning and do something my own carrier forbids me to do.

I am on a grandfathered plan. I still have a circle of 12 friends from Alltel. Lmao

I love the fact that I bought unlimited when data was no big deal. Now minutes are no big deal but data is. However I have 12 friends to help with the sometimes limiting 1400 minutes.

Walked in paid $314.42 for it and walked out. Said it was a gift for an AT&T customer.

Fyou VZW.
