Have I got some sort of virus?

I have had my android phone for about 4 months now and when I have held down my home button it has always brought up a page with different news topics and things. However, it just started bringing up Google assistant. I want to have the old page back but I also think there might be something wrong.

try pushing the home screen button instead of holding it.

pls check whether you have download some apps which carrys the ads here.

I am pretty sure you can revert any google service updates, meaning you can get your old page back. I can assure you this is not a virus. You can still check your install apps and running apps/service to see if there are any suspicious ones, but this is a default service right now. Nothing to worry about.
