So, this happened to me before with my first droid 2. Now I am on my second phone and again, my phone is not vibrating when an incoming text comes through. I have my phone on silent when I am at work and when I get a text it vibrates, now..NOTHING.

What is weird is that if I receive an incoming call, it vibrates, just not on texts. I have my text settings vibrate mode checked.

What causes this problem?

That sounds like an app problem....on my EVO if I set it to silent....nothing vibrates....but vibrates on vibrate and sound.......both calls and texts.....try double checking and making sure vibrate is set in both ur main settings and ur messaging settings....see if that works

I had this problem. Had to have been an app problem or some app that caused vibrate to go away. But my D2 had this identical problem and I couldn't figure it out, so they did a factory reset in the store and vibrate still didn't come back. That's when I got my Fascinate. :(

It may also be that under volume/sound options...you have it set to "Vibrate: Never" It's not clear if it goes into standard vibrate mode just by choosing vibrate, there may be a valid glitch that doesn't allow it. But, I have a feeling you have to choose "Vibrate: when silent" or one of the other options to make it work or just choose silent mode mixed with this setting to make it vibrate. If you have it set to never by default I'd start by looking there. I'm pretty sure i missed my messages on vibrate the few times i've used it and besides being a possible glitch...it may require the setting first I mentioned above.

I have this same problem. I was switched to the Droid2 from my Droid1 through Asurion. My first Droid2 speaker was horrible to find on my second Droid2 replacement that it's the speaker not the phone (seems the Droid1 speaker was way better). Both phones do not vibrate in vibrate or normal audio for ANY alert (text, email, etc) no matter what options I choose. I'm starting to think it's due to the overlay that Moto is putting on top of Froyo. I'm also having problems receiving any emails through the default email program (not gmail). When I got this phone I thought the new Motoblur was cool (never used it) but it seems it's screwing the phone up. Until this phone gets a vanilla version of Android like the D1 I think we'll always have problems.
