Have questions about the Aria? Ask 'em here

I'm at a similar crossroad.
I guess we could give the Aria a try and return it before 30 days.

I've been trying to find where this Aria is being discussed and it surely isn't getting the attention the EVO got by even a fraction.

I was thinking of trying it out as well, but I'm not sure if I will or not...I'd rather have a higher-end device so that it isn't as out of date after twoyears. I hope that makes sense lol.

It's actually way overpriced if you compare specs to the iphone4.
iphone4 = $199
Aria = $230
Even after the $100 rebate it's still $130 and you're stuck with it 2 years. $70 dollars more and we can get an iphone4.
Now, I'm not saying I'm getting an iphone4, but spec wise for the price, Aria is surely a pass for me.

Yea I agree with you. I was considering getting an Aria but I went balls to the wall and purchased an N1 last night. I dont have to extend my contract nor do I have to pay an arm and a leg for an ok android phone which AT&T decided to mess with. It just shipped out today. So let's see what happens.

How long before the Aria is free on contract? Six months? Any idea whether the Samsung Captivate will ever be free on contract?

Well, I'm surely staying with Att, so it makes no difference to me being under contract.
I may buy an iphone4 and sell it on ebay and use the cash for an N1.
Either way, it makes no sense to buy last years hardware for close to the same price as an iphone4.

I've always wanted an Android phone, and I've been pretty out of luck for a while on AT&T when it comes to them. I was thinking of getting a Palm Pre Plus, but I'm worried that it's a bit too old to last two years without me regretting the buy. So do you think the Aria is a better choice? Granted, it's not top-of-the-line, but at least it's Android. Or should I just wait for a better Android phone on AT&T?

I'd like the third party apps to be installed, and would go through the process of rooting the phone in order to have that option.
I have a Palm Pre Plus that I won. It has now taken to powering off on it's own about 3 times a day. It's getting very old. The Aria is gonna be a great phone, I think. I'm on my way shortly to pick mine up.

I'm pretty sure that as long as AT&T is in bed with crApple, this is going to be the only way to get a good Android phone on AT&T: Be it the Nexus One or an unlocked phone from Europe which uses the same bands. Even the Galaxy S will be crippled (we already know they removed the front facing camera, I'm sure once they get video if it turned on we will find the same no unsigned apps, Yahoo search, etc. that the Backflip has. IMHO the only reason they even bother to sell Android phones is so that they can say they do...

Hi Phil,
My browser is at a crawl. I am coming from a BB9700 which had a very fast browser. Is this normal for this phone? If not, what can I do to speed it up?
Thanks

I just got the phone sunday and i agree about not letting the 600 processor be a hindrance to getting this phone! it is very fast! I'm pleased with my purchase! I also got a $50 loylalty credit so i got the phone under $100 plus i didn't have to change my data. i grandfathered in a truly unlimited data plan from my old Tilt phone (no 5gb cap even). i wasn't going to the iphone and loose that!!

I agree as far as price and maybe spec info but I wouldn't mind paying for a phone that works well and allowed a lil more freedom. I have BBerrys and just want something different. My service here is great so I don't want to leave AT&T(believe it or not..regadless of others gripes and experiences) ut I would like to try something different. Androids interest me and to be able to root them for a lil more contol and remove some of the bloat apps is interesting..

I too have the unlimited data plan and will grandfather mine. Russell as far as viewing the web does it populate info pretty fast? Im considering this phone as well.:confused:

When I put my phone in landscape mode and use messaging, the field where it would show my text does not update. The keystrokes show up, and the text gets put into the message, but I have to rotate my phone back to portrait in order to see what I typed.

Also, the case for this phone does a nice job of covering up the screen power on button and making you use a lot of pressure to activate the screen. The optical joystick click would be a much better option for users with a case, but apparently that requires root.

If anyone could pass these issues along that'd be great!

You know the drill. If you have questions, ask them in this thread and I'll get you some answers.

hey there.....i recently switched from t-mobile to att and i had the blackberry bold 9700 , i purchased the aria from att. i would like to know if there is a way for me to check my email accounts? and to see how many accounts i have. i am soooo lost with this new phone. my other question is i tried to download some apps but it gets stuck on downloading, and nothing ever downloads....please HELP....thanks

Anyone using HTC Sync with this phone? I am using Double Twist for loading iTunes playlists but was looking for a desktop manager.

MyMobiler for Android plus getting rid of puke green highlights

Is there an app for the Aria that enables me, when the phone is synced to my PC, to see my phone's screen on my PC monitor and also type in information using my PC's desktop, like MyMobiler for Windows Mobile?

Is there an app by which I can change the color of the awful green highlights, toggles, and buttons that Android (like Windows) puts into their devices?

Thanks.
