Bluetooth and Wifi problems

Since purchasing my HRC Aria from ATT I have had nothing but problems getting connected and or staying connected via Bluetooth. Also, I have a number of wifi issues. Lastly, the display seems to cut out unless I move the device and it senses the lighting has changed. I called HTC and they said they are getting more calls about this issue but could not give an ETA to a fix. Has anyone else had these issues?

phill, do you know if they make a clear battery cover for the aria? id love to see the yellow more than when i just change the memory stick lol.

newbie with the Aria, like it so far, and 1st smartphone on top of all of it. My question is just to the left of the signal bars is a check mark and an "E" above it, what does this mean?

I'm pretty sure that it means you're using the EDGE network as opposed to 3G. Hopefully someone will have a better answer for you then mine.

The E is edge, 3G is 3G (go figure). The check mark means you are connected to wifi or have mobile data turned off (basically means you're not using your data plan at the moment). If it changes to two arrows, it means you are using mobile data. It also does this if you get an MMS, regardless of wifi status.

and what is the "Edge" network", and does it count against my plan minutes, etc.??

if the E and check mark are showing all the time, is it using data all the time or only when I access the web (other than wi-fi/hot spots)? Thanks, sorry but new at the smartphone stuff. in addition, wife has the exact same phone, purchased same day, same plan, etc, and her phone does NOT have the check mark, just the 2 arrows (up/down) but not lit up/moving and the "E" above the arrows.

I wish there were more (or any) posts regarding the overseas version of the Aria. I have T-Mobile and wanted the unbranded version but have some issues that are different than the AT&T Aria. Besides hacking my phone, does anyone have knowledge when any updates will be available for my phone. The updates for the AT&T Aria would be nice if offered for my phone. I too have bluetooth issues and some other minor issues. On the HTC website, the only update is for syncing it. The main issue I have with this phone is that I do not have speech-to-text like the AT&T one has. HTC coudn't help me with it and I really want this feature. I have swiftkey on the phone which is great (since the factory keyboard was mostly chinese, thai and vietnamese sysmbols) and it even incorporates the mic to have the speech-to-text feature although the phone won't support it. I wonder if the Australian version would have it?? The other issue I have is receiving MMS with pics. The quality is terrible. My friend can send me a pic at 200k and it comes in at 10 to 20k. I can even send it from my phone at 200k and it comes in the same way. Other Arias do not do this I am sure but would love feedback please.

Just a guess here, but I don't think the Asian languages are supported in speech-to-text, so it was probably left out. Also, Asian countries may not support larger MMS, so that might be part of the ROM also. If you're against rooting and installing a custom ROM, I would give the Australian version a try.

Then again, I may be completely off base, so if anyone knows anything else about this, feel free to call me an idiot :)

I have a question for the community... I just recently loaded CM6.1 on my Aria... working great! Now I need to figure out how to flash the GAPPS to CM6... I need the utmost patience with this from someone, I've been up 7 hours and finally got CM6 loaded and for the life of me cannot figure out how to flash GAPPS... to give you a little background I'm a newbie to this entire flashing ROMS to Android devices so if I'm asking alot of questions you know why...

I have clockwork recovery installed, and the .zip file for the GAPPS are located on both my PC as well as the SD card on my Aria, thought I would be able to do this from the device but no luck... ANY help will be greatly appreciated!!

In Clockwork, go to install zip from sd card>choose zip from sd card> and navigate through the folders to where you put the file. If you forgot, try making a folder labeled "ROMS" or something obvious like that, and put everything you plan on flashing in there.

It's probably a good idea to wipe cache partition first if you've been doing anything with the phone since you flashed CM.

Is there any way to find out when android 2.2 for aria is going to finally be released.

Pure conjecture on my part here, as I don't have any source of info on this one way or another, but I don't believe we will ever see an official FroYo 2.2 ROM from HTC/ATT. My reasoning stems from the following:

1) The Captivate, a much more high-profile device on ATT, is STILL waiting on a 2.2 update, now almost 2 months after it was promised. HTC, as far as I know, never promised an update for the Aria.

2) HTC has limited resources, which are probably better spent, at least as far as they are concerned, on keeping up with their competitors by developing new products, rather than supporting older, (relatively) poorly received ones.

That being said, there are several options for you to get either FroYo or Gingerbread (2.3) on your Aria. This will require you to root the device (which is very simple to do now) Check out the Android Development subforum in the XDA Developers Aria forum for more info.

I am currently running CyanogenMod7 Gingerbread on my Aria, and it is spectacular.

Hope this helps....

Hey Forum, just rooted my Aria yesterday using Unrevoked3, I got Superuser Permissions, installed Wireless Tethering, now I wanted to install Titanium Backup, however it says that it is unable to gain root access, please make sure that your phone is rooted and has BusyBox. So I try to install BusyBox, and that said that it couldn't remount. I ran into a similar issue to that one when trying to push some files to the system directory and abd couldn't remount. Any help? Suggestions? If there's any information I failed to include, feel free to ask. Thank you!

I think S-ON may be the culprit here.. Im not finding any positive information that unlocking NAND is available for HTC Aria.. Does anyone know the contrary?
Or if there may be another solution to my problem. Would really like to put a custom ROM on my Aria. :[

Hi,
I just got an Aria. It is from AT&T, and has froyo on it. I want to be able to install 3rd party apps (I am able to sideload them) directly on the phone. Is rooting the only answer?
