Have to Manually Sync Gmail

For the past couple days I've been forced to manually sync my Gmail, as the title says. If I don't open up the app and click on refresh, I'll never know I have any new email. I have background data turned on, I've got notifications checked, and for some reason it isn't working. I've even cleared the cache and data from the app to start over, and it still won't work. Does anyone have any clue what's going on? I'd definitely appreciate some advice on how to fix this...it's getting rather annoying.

I believe the settings you need to adjust are in you "accounts" submenu of Gingerbread itself.

Go to home screen.
Tap your menu button on the phone.
Go to your Accounts submenu.
Open up the Google account and see if you can activate syncing from there.

On a similar note, there is a free app called Dazzle which has a bunch of widgets. One of them is to toggle on or off your syncing. I use that all the time.

Thanks. I cleared the cache again, cleared the data again, toggled background sync off and on again, and it started working. That's really weird, but at least it's back up. Thanks again!
