This definitely needs to be a frontpage post on AC. People are completely unaware of how OTAs take place.

I'm downloading the image for the Nexus 4 version 4.3
But I have no idea how to install it. Anyone here know?

The Google images have to be installed via ADB. If one is rooted you'll lose root.

If you head over to XDA there are some 4.3 zips that can be installed via recovery.

Or, you could use the delete data trick on Google Play Framework, forcing the OTA to prompt you to install the update normally. This is probably the better option if one is inexperienced to flashing.

Clear Data. Stop the frame work service . Reboot the cell. Check for update !

I cleared the Google Framework and forced the download. It took 5 attempts, but I got it. Everything went smoothly with no problems other than having to add my Google account to my phone again.

That's how I updated to 4.3 (took 5 attempt) I did the same for 4.2.2. I have never had issues with this method other than having to add my Google account to my phone again.

If u want OTA 4.3 then go to Apps-> All Apps -> Find Google Service Framework -> Clear Data -> Force stop then go and check for updates. Do this until u get the 4.3 update. It took me 12 tries (which is 3 mins).

thanks that worked took six tries.

That's how I updated to 4.3 (took 5 attempt) I did the same for 4.2.2. I have never had issues with this method other than having to add my Google account to my phone again.

Yes it notifies you or alternatively you can go to settings-down to about phone-system updates.

Mine just informed me that an update was available in the top bar.
Just clicked on it then it downloaded and installed. Only issue was I had to reload my Go Launcher

Ok, this is what happened for me: Been waiting to get 4.3 since the initial release announcement a few days ago this week after watching the entire event live here on android central. Tried MANY times to check for updates, probably like 15-20 times a day. Tried the clear framework cache and data thing a few times but did not do a force stop. Heck even had to delete my google account and re-apply it as I was getting that error notification when updating apps but it went away after re-applying my google account. Been reading this and MANY threads on this. Just now after getting off work reading this thread, I cleared data and cache and did a force stop I thought wth (did not do a force stop at all until now because of the alert saying it could mess things up but again I thought wth and just did it). Just like that the 4.3 notification popped up and started to download and is installing at this very moment......and it has finished installing and I have 4.3! wooot!! York, PA here.

Nothing yet in Maryland. I get that they are staggering this (thanks to whoever posted the earlier link). The paranoid side of me though keeps worrying like what if my phone isn't in some cosmic database and they totally forget me, LOL. I kinda wish they'd have sent out a notification along the lines of it had started and would get to my phone eventually.

Question: my local internet has been iffy lately (old neighborhood, trees etc) and periodically just sort of drops out for 5-10 minutes. Would this affect my upgrade? As in if it died when the update was halfway through, would it break something? Maybe that'll be a good excuse to do this at Starbucks .

Guys i know that force stop the Google FrameWorks is bad but i just did it and it worked after the 5th try. If you don't have the patients i say try it.
