I'm trying to get my contacts from the Iphone to the Android. I backed up my contacts to google and got them to show up on the One finally. The problem is, it imported much more than just my phone contacts, bringing in tons of email addresses. I just want 'My Contacts' imported and not all the circles or people I've emailed with gmail in the past.

How can I do this? Thanks!

Edit contacts in Gmail on a computer. Disable auto add email addresses to contacts.

I know this sounds dense, but I've been trying to find a setting just like that but can't seem to locate it on the contacts web page. I figured it would be something like that but settings don't seem to expose this. Is it hidden somewhere?

Okay, I did finally find a setting for that (didn't realize you said Gmail). That will disable the addition of new ones, but they're still showing up in the contacts web page under 'Most Contacted' and 'Other Contacts'. Doesn't look like it removes them?

You'll need to go through and delete them on the Gmail Web page. Then the contacts on your phone will sync with Gmail and the email addresses you deleted will no longer show in your phone. That is how it's worked for me when I ran into the same problem.
You can probably also just delete the offending email addresses in the contacts in your phone as well at this point. I just find it easier to do on a computer.

You are welcome. Feel free to ask any other questions you may have here. I'd like to add this little thought. When using an Android phone remember that while iCloud is more or less an extension to a computer from the phone. Android phones are an extension from Google services on a computer to a phone. I feel it's a distinct difference. Learn what IS possible on Android and I'm pretty sure you'll be satisfied with the OS.
