EDIT: Oh wait, I was thinking of OTG support in general. I'll have to look a little more to see if external drives work via OTG.

I think the drive has to be formatted in FAT32, but I've never tested it myself.

Yes, in some cases. Not all apps are (made to be) compatible. Netflix I think is. Amazon Video Prime I don't think is.
