I don't understand how this could just happen but I've been for a run for 45 minutes with my earphones in listening to my music and ask I come into my house and unplug my earphones I go to plug them back in and all of a sudden they don't work. The sound is playing through the phones speakers but when I plug my earphones in the sound is still playing from the speakers and not the earphones.

I tried contacting Vodafone to ask about my insurance and apparently I don't have any...even though I was under the illusion that I was paying £9.99 a month for it. Does anyone know if this is an expensive repair? Or is there a way of fixing this myself?

Many thanks

Hi there,

While that does sound like a hardware issue (it shouldn't be too hard or expensive to repair, though, IF it's just the headphones port gone bad), there are a few things you could try before you send it off for repairs.

1) This may sound silly, but it's also the first thing you should try. Have you rebooted your phone yet? Still not working?

2) Boot up in Safe Mode. Does it work there? If so, that means a 3rd party app is causing the conflict, and that's a lot easier to 'repair'.

3) Try a different pair of headphones or an AUX line that's not too long. Does the phone recognize those? If you have a Samsung headset with volume control, does it do anything if you press the volume/command buttons?

4) Try BT headphones or audio systems. Does the audio play through that?
