Headphone jack: legacy port? Really?

I've read on a blog post on Android Central that the next Pixel phone is ditching the headphone jack, just like Moto Z and HTC U. I really don't understand, can someone help explain why manufacturers are ditching the 3.5mm jack?? Legacy port? The V20 headphone jack with the Quad DAC sounds absolutely amazing! If Apple came out with that technology, people would have praised Apple for doing a good job, and also be much happier than being forced to use Bluetooth Airpods. Well Apple is all about profit, but what about other manufacturers? An easy way out to improve audio experience? Helps provide more space? If the LG G5 and S8 could include a headphone jack and still offered bezelless phones, then there's no excuse. The V20 is VERY thin and is perfect. Not sure what's going on at Google but they are starting to resemble Apple...

Seems we are heading to a completely sealed device, most likely disposable, in the future.

It's a ridiculous move that degrades a device by making it less usable. I praise LG for embracing the jack and making it awesome with the quad DAC. To me, that's the way to do it.

It makes it a lot easier to make phones slimmer, so manufacturers are starting early to make them slimmer and slimmer. And using USB-C seems to be the way most are going (except Apple with their Lightning port). Even though that port doesn't offer better sound quality, hopefully they will find a way to add a DAC or something that will go through it.

Phones are too slim already in my opinion. The V20 plus a case is about prefect for thickness to me, plus a thicker phone can be more durable. I'll keep my headphone jack, thank you very much. Lol.

For those phones that do away with the headphone jack, then the DAC won't matter much as it'll only power the built in speakers (unless they drastically improved the speaker design and output to warrant a better DAC). If the sound is transmitted via digital signal (Bluetooth, USB, etc), then a DAC doesn't even come into play on the phone. It's the DAC on the actual playback device that would matter. Remember, DAC stands for "digital to analog converter."

I voted for the DAC , Headphone Jack alone with my money.

Even my portable amp (FIIO A5) seems overkill with my B&O Play H6 headset & the V20 Quad DAC amp

Batterylife ( waiting my charging bundle , after receiving it no problem) could be better.

Grrr QHD screens, overkill FHD enough for me
