Headphone Jack Problems

This is odd:

Got my phone last night and was trying to listen to some music in my office today using my Xiaomi wired headset, but the music started blasting through the front facing speakers! Headphone jack is securely in place and I tried re-inserting it several times with no use. Restarting didn't help either.

Went to my co-workers office and used his Skullcandy (I think) headphones and it worked fine. Not sure what's going on since I thought the 2 different headphone jack types just had to do with the headset controls and not actual audio output.

Has anybody else had a similar problem?

I think audio output from the headphone jack is just buggy in general. I plugged in my earphones once and sound only came out of one ear, despite the headphones working and the plug being all the way in!! Luckily a reboot fixed it for me - good luck with your issue :/
