Headphone socket , Is it just me?

Wait what!!??

How is it better on the bottom. Please explain!

I place this phone in cup holders (driving) and the aux cord pops right into my headphone jack.. Which is on the top. When I glance at my screen, guess what... The bloody thing isn't upside down like my friends iPhone....

I HATE phones with bottom jacks. They just make no sense..

In my pocket.
Guess what? The phones the right side up.. As in my screens not upside down.

In my cupholder....

I can say this: wish the phones USB was on its side

I use a car mount. My cup holder holds my cups.

Also putting it in my pants pocket. I slide the phone in top down because when I pull it out I don't have to change my grip on the phone, feels much better than awkwardly pulling it out by the top corners if it was right side up.

It's definitely a matter of personal preference, but some people find the location of the jack to make a difference in some situations.

When driving, I find it much easier to take my phone out of the cupholder and skip music tracks without looking at it if the jack is on the bottom.

Does that mean you drive with ear phones on?

Not at all. Driving with headphones or earbuds in is illegal in most areas, for those who don't know. Many cars don't have support for A2DP Bluetooth audio, and so you need to use an auxiliary cable (such as this one) in order to play music.

Love the phone , but if I could change the headphone input from top to bottom , that would make it even better. Can I get a witness?

The problem is not top vs bottom, it's being on the angled side so the headphone cable doesn't fit in 100%.

But...the cable does fit in 100%. It just doesn't look that way because of one side at an angle, bit of an optical illusion. the N4 is far from the first device to do this (the first iPod touch way back in 2007 is the first one I can think of). As long as the contacts on the side are all touching the headphone jack in the correct place, it is "in all the way"

Top or bottom is not the problem, the connection is on an edge so tapered I could not plug in my small JBL speakers using the mini jack.

C'mon people, it's a mini jack, how do you mess that up?

My Klipsch mini headphones plug-in ok. EDIT: actually, they don't really stay plugged in either.

My JBL computer speakers and Sennheiser full size headphones don't plug in.

I don't have an opinion either way. I will say however.. I'm happy ths micro usb port is on the bottom. Every phone I ever had always had the port on the side. Makes it a lil easier to use while charging.

I get a soft buzz when it's hooked into a car via aux cable. doesn't happen with other phones.

Does it happen when it is also plugged into power? I get a buzzing on my N7 when the battery is full, it is on power, and headphones are plugged in.

I find this argument pointless does it really matter where the headphone jack is placed. As long it does its job I don't see any problem.it scares me what people have grown to complain about.
