Hello and help me please, my phone is using 2 messaging apps

my galaxy s4 seems to be using the original messaging set up which I don't like so I swapped to life contacts and now it uses both of them.

I also have to download picture messages? how can I make them just display.

Go in the default one and turn off the MMS auto retrieve and also the notifications. This way only the new app you installed will notify you of messages.
