Ok, so the wife finally beat on me enough to give up the windows phone. Apps and other stuff where the primary reason. Had the WIN10 mobile running on a Verizon ICON with the most current version of operating system. Did most of the hacking and was pretty comfortable with the system. So, now that I am using an Android device (albeit an older one, Moto Z Droid). Any advice or heads up about this new adventure would be appreciated. 1st questions is (disable or uninstall bloatware), which is the better choice. Looking forward to interacting with you guys. Hope everyone has a good day...

Welcome to the forums. Unless the device is rooted, you won't be able to fully remove any bloatware. Disabling it should be easy and no root needed.

Hi Matthew, welcome to Android, I'm sure you will have lots enjoyment sorting out your Moto Z Droid.

Congratulations on your switch to Android and to Motorola, and welcome to Android Central!

I'd say bloatware is mostly unnecessary as sometimes you are already using an app that is similar to a bloatware app. If you can, disable!

Thanks for all the welcomes. Don't want to get off subject, but if you delete the bloatware (been doing some reading, becoming a developer and ADB Shell). If you remove/uninstall the bloatware, will this have any negative affects on battery life/performance? Thanks for the feedback.

Welcome to Android Central! Rooting a phone to uninstall bloat shouldn't affect battery life, unless it's bloatware that you can't Disable and is coded so poorly that it is constantly working in the background for no good reason. It's also important to back up your phone's setup before deleting any bloat or system apps, because if you find out later that you needed that app, it might be difficult to find somewhere on the web where you can download it again.

Welcome to the AC Forums! And yeah, just ask away and enjoy the phone! I'm sure it'll be easy in no time
