Welcome to the forums.
The downside to having a device that isn't so popular is that there may not be a root method for it, as someone who is familiar with discovering root methods needs to buy the device hand hack it.

Even if you can't root now, you can still disable some apps without root. Not the same as removing but better than nothing.
