Good evening! I have been sent in this direction and so I'm hoping someone can help.
I've recently tried to join the world of mobile data having relied on wifi connections before (we live rurally and have no reception to speak of).
I have an unlocked samsung galaxy core prime and I am able to make calls and send texts on my PAYG phone, but have no mobile data connection. I have bought a big value bundle and also been given some free mobile data.
I have been into the Vodafone store, and chatted online to their advisors. The APM settings are checked, the microSIM has been changed, new data allowances have been added, there is no data bar on my account, the phone has had numerous soft resets. This is a new phone and i have never been able to access mobile data. An EE sim works fine in my phone.
Any suggestions? Vodafone have been singularly rubbish at trying to sort this and I would ditch them if it wasn't for the fact they offer me wifi calling through the sure signal we have at home without having to have a monthly contract.
Thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy tome!

Are you sure the specific model of Galaxy Core Prime phone you have supports your carriers data frequencies? It might support voice and text, but if it doesn't have the hardware for the right frequencies, you won't have data at all in that carrier, unfortunately.

Thanks for your reply - is there an easy way to check this or do I have to speak to Vodafone's technical team?
Update - I have checked the specs of the phone and they do seem to match up to Vodafone's published data frequencies. We do live in a rural area, so minimal 4G, but 3G should be available.

I'd first confirm with Vodafone the frequencies used specifically in your area. Then, if they are compatible with your phone, it should be only a matter of them configuring the right APN data.

My husband's Vodafone SIM works fine! So not issue with handset.
I have finally managed to speak to technical team at Vodafone. Seems their staff have majorly messed up. They failed to send me a microSIM, twice, and then failed to issue one correctly in store, twice.... Their seemingly more competent Glasgow based team are sending me out a third microSIM - fingers crossed they have solved the problem they caused in the first place. So glad I spent over 6 hours online and on the phone trying to sort it

Oh, OK! Well, if another SIM does work, then it's definitely on the carrier's side of things! Glad you sorted out the SIM Card shipment and hope it does fix the issue. Let us know!

Welcome to AC and I am sorry to hear your intro has been a bumpy one due to the carrier. Glad you got it sorted out.
