Hi all total newbie to the android scene just come over from the other side (apple)
just got my new note 3 all set up and i do like it.
just one gripe at the moment . its on kitkat 4.4.2
on the emails i have the sync set to manual but i still get emails at various times during the day, any ideas ?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the Gmail app or the stock Email app?

A surefire way of preventing automatic sync is to turn off Auto Sync. I'm not familiar with Samsung's interface in detail, but there may be a toggle in the Quick Settings. Otherwise, go to Settings>Data Usage, tap the menu button, and uncheck Auto-Sync. You should still be able to manually refresh email by swiping down.

You actually put the app to update your emails everytime you open the app... Go to your sync settings and put the update interval to the time interval you want

It should prevent all apps from auto syncing, although you can still manually sync from within each app.

Please excuse any typos or autocorrect derps.

tried that does not seem to work. set it to manual and it still gets emails at all times. tried removing account and reinstalling it no change.

Have you tried unticking this and seeing if that works?

I am guessing it depends on whether you set up a pop or an imap account and whether push or pull. Push may override scheduling?

Give K -9 or Maildroid a shot to see if the problem still exists. If it does you know it has to do with the account. If it doesn't, you know it's a setting or bug with the app.
