Cable analysis for oil industry made the cash to retire at 50.

Maybe I'm among the few who still understand how core computers work, but I'm an "old fogey" left way behind in programming android (a skill I want to learn), Linux, and even the windows this laptop uses .... sure I'm not afraid of using a command line for much of what I do !

But my new android phone is a step beyond my knowledge ... I so need to learn !

Welcome to the AC Forums, Laura! Command lines are still a very popular thing, especially for Linux users (and let's not forget Android is built on Linux ).

My first "smartphone" in 2010 was the original HTC Desire, beautiful phone I lived with for seven years (how value is that ?) but everything on Android 2.2 slowly died.

I now have an Honor 9 Lite, running Oreo 8.0 ... struggle to put it down !

Sorry but this forum is just not working for me.

I'm being denied ability to comment on a very recent review of my new phone (Honor 9 lite - I know its a budget device - but remarkable at price point) ...

Getting messages like "not enough reputation to post URLs", but no URL in message, and "not entitled to reply to old posts".

Am I wasting my time here ?

Have you tried posting your reply without quoting a previous post? Do you still get the same error?

Gee, too bad. I started around the same decade - Altairs and SWTPs. It could have been interesting.

Laura, if you happen to pop back in here, no, it's not because you're on Windows 7. And, as Javier said, let him know which threads you're having problems with (just copy and paste the URLs [put spaces after the dots, just in case]) and he'll try to help you.
