AC Question

Please con someone help me to solve this. (Samsung Note 3)

My phone updated android system last night and now there are loads of really serious issues. There is no bar at the top of the screen so I cannot see the time, my battery status, and what connectivity settings are on, its so inconvenient! I also cannot set a homescreen wallpaper as i just get a pop up saying UI system failed. The home button does not take me to the home screen, pressing it has no effect except the double press to open s voice. Finally but im sure its not the last bug I no longer have a lock screen function, pressing the snooze button on the side just puts the screen to sleep.

I am so frustrated with these issues and they have drastically reduced the functionality of my device. I am aware that a factory reset is an option however I am nervous of loosing files even with a back up (lost my mum last year and still have her texts).

Thanks for reading, please help!

Before a factory reset, a lot of ills can be cured by clearing the system cache. This will not delete your data.
Turn off the Galaxy Note 3.
Press and hold Volume UP + Home + Power buttons.
When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
In the recovery menu, navigate to ‘’wipe cache partition’’ with the volume buttons.
Press power button to confirm.
Once this is done, select reboot system now.
