HELP! application Launcher (process com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly

I have a Mototrola Droid x that now when i turn it on I got to the crash it has stopped plz report how do I recover my phone it wont let me do anything!

This error has happened twice now, and the first time, I had to do a factory reset, which lost all my data and settings.

The first time, it happened when moving apps from the phone to the SD card. This time, it happened when I connected to my PC and turned on USB mass storage.

Is there a way to get rid of the error without having to lose all my data again?
