Just got my phone today and activated it. It appears that every single app I have ever purchased is automatically downloading. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PHONE DO THIS. I thought I had fixed it by stopping the downloads in the market. I uninstalled some of the downloaded apps and they started redownloading agin.
Can someone tell me what is doing this? There are TONS of apps that are downloading that I don't want downloaded to my phone.
Thanks

It seems like it was more than that. It was every single app I had associated with my account. Because I got a ton of free apps as well.

It was nice in some ways because I didn't have to scroll through my list of installed apps to figure out what I needed to download again. But it was also kinda crazy watching my phone download 500 megs of apps all at once.

Nice way to introduce people to a limited shared data plan, eh? Automatically download apps that people don't really want or need any more. Guess lesson learned is clean-up your phone before you activate new phone - especially if you are on a limited plan.

I had intended to manually go back through my apps and selectively re-download the ones that I wanted, because I had accumulated a lot of junk that I didn't use. But when I activated mine last night it did the same thing. So I guess I'll take some time to go through and uninstall the stuff I didn't want. I'm sure there was some backup setting I missed....

I have unlimited still, so no biggie.... but I feel for you if you don't. Mine was about 0.5 GB in an hour or so...

Hmmmm.

Mine didn't do this. It only listed the apps I've downloaded since I first started using Android, even the ones I uninstalled. I had to manually download them.

I am on my home wireless so the data part shouldn't be a problem but still, there is going to be a lot of apps to uninstall. The last thing I want to do on a new phone is start cluttering it with apps. Just doesn't seem like a very way to start off with a CLEAN phone.

Mine did this as well, but it only downloaded the apps that I had installed on my Galaxy Nexus phone. It also downloaded and set the wallpaper that I had on my GNex phone as and restored all of my WiFi settings/passwords as well.

Personally, I liked that the phone did this automatically ... saved me the trouble.

Same thing happened to me,wasn't thrilled but it was pretty easy to uninstall them. Also would have liked to start clean, but I couldn't find a way to stop them. Would be nice to know how just in case.

I found this to be a huge pain in the arse as well!

Any idea how to turn off the feature that automatically adds shortcuts to your home screen?

Did you guys use Backup Assistant Plus during the initial setup of your phone? If so I suspect that is what is triggering the mass download. I skipped this step and didn't have anything download automatically. Of course I had to then download what I wanted myself but I prefer downloading manually to deleting manually.
