Help! Blinking-Flashing Menu Bar

This has not been happening until the last 2 days:
Whenever the screen is active, the menu bar (the one with Home, Menu, Back) flashes on & off. I think it actually started when I downloaded "Sticky Notes" widget. But I re-booted, removed the battery & rebooted, removed Sticky Notes & it still does it. The problem was noticed in the middle of the night because I use the Digital Clock when it's plugged in & charging--makes a great clock for seeing the time in the middle of the night! But I thought it was lightning because I kept seeing flashes....finally realized it was the phone! It's like a strobe light! It even does it now when it's not plugged in. Help!! Any ideas on what's causing this & how to stop it???

LED Notification

The flashing in the menu bar is the LED notification. You must have an app running in the background that is making the LED light up like crazy. The LED is not located on the top of the phone, that is the proximity sensor, the LED is actually the home>menu>back button and lights up just as an LED does.

Thanks Rich! I never figured out why....but it finally quit flashing! Next time I'll check to see if any aps are running. And yes it did light up like crazy! Like a strobe!
