so I'm trying to install Cyanogen (Zeife's or aosp, doesn't matter much to me) to get gingerbread, but it keeps bailing out on install, throwing error 7. can someone help?

yeah, nameless worked, and I've been on lego for a long while (I'm back on lego, since it's got all my apps and data and whatnot), but I really want gingerbread...

of course. wipe cache, wipe data, wipe dalvik, format system, boot, data, and cache.

ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.8
which is strange, because I thought I updated it to the latest Xionia... I'm not sure... I know I read that CM7 needs CWM 3 or higher, but I couldn't find that for the optimus S...

Xionia works well for the scott pilgrim rom...

have you tried to re-download the rom and try again?

yes I have tried redownloading the rom. it does not work. I've tried both scott pilgrim and the aospCMod
and I've tried zeife's "flash this to clear yo stuff right" thing. it also does not work

maybe your sd card is going bad. Have you tried a different sd card? (of course, moving the zips to the new sd card)

I would try flashing to a different recovery as well , like Xionia v1.2518.6 - in my signature ( ive been able to flash all the roms on here from it without issues, always clearing everything out (cache, data, ect per their threads)

I was flashing from a different SD card than I use for my data and whatnot. I've always done so, and Nameless flashed from that just fine, so that's not it. I'll try a different recovery later today

ok, well, the new recovery worked just fine, and I've got AOSP's CMod up and running. any tips for moving from one rom to another? I'd really like to just move all my apps and settings and whatnot over. I tried titanium backup for this, but the problem is that it doesn't boot afterwards

got 'er up and running. the issue was that I was applying system settings as well. I'm no longer watching this thread, so thanks and bye!
